The Beach Boys are an American rock band formed in Hawthorne, California, in 1961. The group's original lineup consisted of brothers Brian, Dennis, and Carl Wilson, their cousin Mike Love, and their friend Al Jardine.
Group Sounds is an album by the San Diego, California rock band Rocket from the Crypt, released in 2001 by Vagrant Records. It was the band's first album for the label and their first with new drummer Ruby Mars.
The LP was named for being their 20th overall album release. Much of it consists of outtakes from earlier albums.
Best of The Beach Boys Vol. 2 is the 1967 sequel to the previous year's hits package.
Group Sounds, often abbreviated as . or G-Sound, is a genre of Japanese rock music which became popular in the mid to late 1960s and initiated the fusion of Japanese kayōkyoku music and Western rock music. Their music production techniques were regarded as playing a pioneering role in modern Japanese popular music. Fōku (folk) and new music became famous in Japan in the 1970s, but new rock bands survived as new rock in Japanese underground music.
The group here reached a whole new level in terms of both composition and production, layering tracks upon tracks of vocals and instruments to create a richly symphonic sound. Conventional keyboards and guitars were combined with exotic touches of orchestrated strings, bicycle bells, buzzing organs, harpsichords, flutes, Theremin, Hawaiian-sounding string instruments, Coca-Cola cans, barking dogs, and more.
This collection is the most comprehensive single disc compilation ever issued of their music, with 30 tracks clocking in at over 76 minutes and grabbing nearly every US Top 40 hit of their career, except for 1965's number 20 hit "The Little Girl I Once Knew", and the 1976 top-30 hit "It's .
