Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (27 January 1756 – 5 December 1791), baptised as Johannes Chrysostomus Wolfgangus Theophilus Mozart, was a prolific and influential composer of the classical era. Born in Salzburg, Mozart showed prodigious ability from his earliest childhood. Already competent on keyboard and violin, he composed from the age of five and performed before European royalty.

The "Haydn" Quartets by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart are a set of six string quartets published in 1785 in Vienna as his Op. 10, dedicated to the composer Joseph Haydn. They contain some of Mozart's most memorable melodic writing and refined compositional thought. Programme notes for Haydn Te Deum, Mozart Requiem, Rheinberger Organ Concerto No. 2 Te Deum in C, HobXXIIIc/2 Joseph Haydn (1732–1809) The Te Deum which begins tonight’s concert is a comparatively late work of Haydn, being composed in 1799. In 1790, when Prince Nicholaus Esterházy died, Haydn had been the court composer at Eisenstadt and then Esterháza for almost 30 years, having been appointed by Nicholaus’s father Paul in 1761, and eventually serving under four successive Esterházy princes.
