That's moreso describing Ashley Monroe herself, not the album. Even still, it says "countrypolitan drama", not just a simple description as "countrypolitan". We would need a source stating "the album is countrypolitan". Ss112 14:33, 23 April 2018 (UTC). php?title Talk:Sparrow (Ashley Monroe album)&oldid 843988247".
Kacey Musgraves and Ashley Monroe- but not the Pistol Annies, ironically!- are among the few artists whose new albums are "automatics" for me, and this album merits that faith (which, sadly, Musgraves' new one generally does not). Please note that "Sparrow" is NOT pure country, it is country-pop (with emphasis often on the latter), so be prepared. But it is solid throughout, and includes at least a couple outstanding songs: "Orphan" and "She Wakes Me Up". "Hands On You" and "Wild Love" are worth a mention as well.
Ashley Lauren Monroe (born September 10, 1986) is an American country music singer-songwriter. Monroe has released two solo singles, "Satisfied" and "I Don't Want To" (which featured Brooks & Dunn singer Ronnie Dunn), that reached the . Billboard Hot Country Songs chart at and respectively. Both singles were from her debut album, Satisfied, that was intended for a 2007 release but was pushed back
Monroe finds space for a flirtation with '70s soul ("Hard on a Heart"), majestic soft pop ("Wild Love"), and seductive slow-burners ("Hands on You"), moments that enrich the album by giving it a natural ebb and flow. More than anything, Sparrow is sharply constructed as an album, setting a mood with its first song and then finding variations on this lush, enveloping sound. It's a record designed for late nights, whether those nights are lonely or romantic.
In opening her new album, Sparrow, with a song called Orphan, Ashley Monroe aligns herself with that tradition. How does the sparrow know more than I? When a mother is gone it learns how to fly, she sings. Monroe recorded Sparrow after what she described to NPR as an intense therapy-athon, which allowed her to confront milestones as crushing as the death of her father and as joyous as the birth of her first child. The songs feel more personal than her previous work, but Monroe also understands that country music can balance such particulars with universals.
Dave Cobb stands as one of the most respected producers in Nashville. Of course, the success of Chris Stapleton has brought his name to the forefront of the business, but a wide array of acts - from The Oak Ridge Boys to Brandi Carlile - have utilized his services as of late. What is it about the Georgia native that keeps him so in demand? Ashley Monroe is quick to jump in with praise. I’ve been a fan of all of the records that he’s done," Monroe tells Billboard. They are just so different . Monroe will promote the music from Sparrow on the road this year, and perhaps do some writing with Angaleena Presley and Miranda Lambert as well. Could another Pistol Annies album be in the pipeline? "We have just started writing again, and the songs are pouring out of us," she says. We all three are geared up in 'Annie-ville.
