13 hrs ·. Roy Orbison & George Harrison.

The Beatles' third UK tour began at the Adelphi Cinema in Slough, Buckinghamshire. Also on the tour were Roy Orbison, Gerry and the Pacemakers, David Macbeth, Louise Cordet, Tony Marsh, Terry Young Six, Erkey Grant and Ian Crawford. We were selling records but we were still second on the bill, and one of our first big tours was second on the bill to Roy Orbison. It was pretty hard to keep up with that man. He really put on a show; well, they all did, but Orbison had that fantastic voice.

While this may be an excellent intro for beginners, real fans will never be content with only selections, especially when you're dealing with those aforementioned albums. Please Please Me was influenced by a Roy Orbison song that Lennon liked. The two songs are kind of similar early rock and roll, although Please Please Me had seemed a bit more polished. From Me To You, sounds a lot like Please Please Me as the band had tried to do their best to score a number one record in the US, by utilizing the same formula and just trying to improve on it.

Roy Orbison's 15th single still stands as one of the most beautiful, sincere and moving records of the rock and roll era. Orbison outdoes himself on his vocal performance with that aching falsetto that is guaranteed to tug on a few heartstrings. A mini drama in all of two and a half minutes of glory, 'Crying' made it to No. 2 on the charts in the summer of 1961. The song was covered by many artists, most notably, a remake by Orbison with . 1. 'Oh, Pretty Woman'. The record sailed to the No. 1 spot in the summer of 1964 and stayed there for three weeks, keeping the Beatles at bay, for a moment. It would be his last Top 10 hit until his comeback in 1989 with 'You Got I. The song is built around a dynamic riff, simple, catchy melody and an ace vocal from Orbison, adding up to a winning combination.
