Buckethead released a second studio album that year, Giant Robot, which features many guest appearances by artists such as Iggy Pop and Bill Moseley. The name of the album came from the Japanese series Johnny Sokko and his Flying Robot, of which Buckethead is a fan. He also released two other albums with Praxis, their second and third studio efforts: Sacrifist and Metatron. 1995–99: Collaboration work, movie soundtracks and Praxis.
Bassist/composer Jonas Hellborg writes, "The music on Octave Of The Holy Innocents was recorded with Michael Shrieve, one of the truly legendary drummers of the world, and, at the time, a relatively unknown guitarist Buckethead, who has since become one of the most important voices in the electric guitar community. When looking over the tapes of these sessions I discovered tracks that I did not use the first time around. So there are no extra songs on this reissue, but a fundamental reworking of all the compositions of the first release

On this release, Jonas Hellborg uses a custom made acoustic bass guitar. The electrified and generally dazzling, heavy metal-like inclinations of guitarist Buckethead are tempered into an acoustic format here, as drummer Michael Shrieve lays down a series of torrid backbeats to complement his hard-hitting, polyrhythmic fills.
There's really nothing in the progressive rock world that I can compare it to, which is one of the things that makes it a masterpiece. Beyond that, there's stellar compositions and awesome musicianship. Acoustic instruments pushed to their boundaries. The opener, Rana and Fara is an over 15 minute piece that takes you on a musical journey with mellow parts and very intense parts.
