Queen are a British rock band formed in London in 1970. Their classic line-up was Freddie Mercury (lead vocals and piano), Brian May (lead guitar and vocals), Roger Taylor (drums and vocals) and John Deacon (bass guitar).

Queen's relationship with Adam Lambert, as detailed in a new documentary, raised the question of an album being recorded in April 2019. It’s nearly 10 years since Adam Lambert made his first appearance alongside Brian May and Roger Taylor of Queen during the finale of American Idol’s eighth season. That moment formed a relationship that’s seen Queen + Adam Lambert delivering a series of tours, appearing at the Oscars ceremony and, later this month, starring in documentary The Show Must Go On: The Queen + Adam Lambert Story.

Queen + Adam Lambert (sometimes referred to as Q+AL or QAL) is a collaboration between the active members of the British band Queen (Brian May and Roger Taylor) and American vocalist Adam Lambert. As with all other Queen performances since 1997, longstanding bassist John Deacon has declined to participate in the project due to his retirement. This is the first long-term collaboration of Queen since the Queen + Paul Rodgers project ended in 2009.

This multi-format release captures the band’s headliner performance that took place on 17th August 2014 at Marine Stadium, the main stage of Japan’s largest rock festival, Summer Sonic in its entirety. Queen + Adam Lambert – Live in Japan, released exclusively in Japan in various formats. Catalog number of vinyl is WRDZ-052. Other Versions (5 of 9) View All. Cat.

Adam Lambert has toured on and off with Queen since 2012 after first teaming up with May and Taylor to perform the 1977 classic combo "We Will Rock You"/"We Are the Champions on the American Idol finale in 2009. Lambert later performed with the band at MTV’s EMAs in Belfast, spawning rumors that he would be the permanent replacement for Mercury. While that hasn’t happened, Lambert has a recurring role with the band and he has a successful solo career to boot. Queen + Adam Lambert will hit the road for their 25-city .
