The Lord Dog Bird is the name given to this solo project of Colin McCann, whose regular gig is guitarist with Wilderness. His glittering shards of guitar noise brighten that band's sound, but on this album his guitar sounds like it's been dunked in a bucket of grime. The aesthetic is strictly lo-fi and noisy throughout. Along with the fuzzy overloaded guitars, the other ingredients in the murk are fuzzy overloaded keyboards and McCann's high-pitched keening vocals
Summary: The solo project for the Wilderness singer Colin McCann. Record Label: Jagjaguwar. Genre(s): Indie, Rock. You can appreciate the emotion put into The Lord Dog Bird and feel the soul being poured out-but without any variety in the album's sound or any songs that jump out and demand repeat spins, ultimately you're left with a less than satisfying listening experience.
According to "The New Guy" (who may or may not star in a comedy featuring Eliza Dushku and Zooey Deschanel), Wilderness' guitarist Colin McCann is set to release a debut, self-titled album as The Lord Dog Bird on Jajaguwar.
The Lord Dog Bird is the solo recording project of Colin McCann, guitarist for Jagjaguwar artists, Wilderness. While the band was on extended hiatus, McCann kept at it, documenting his feelings about life and music at home on his four track. The result is a gritty, tactile document of a time spent in self-exploration and flux. Through droning repetition and the unmistakable hiss and clip of four track cassette, a warm and engrossing atmosphere develops. 104 BPM. Song for Woodthrush. 82 BPM. March to the Mountain
Bird Dog is an album released in 1987 by The Verlaines. The album is often considered to be The Verlaines best, most introspective piece of work, with songs such as Slow Sad Love Song, Bird Dog and . Jimmy, Jazz and Me all appearing on You're just too obscure for me, the group's only compilation to span their entire career. Slow Sad Love Song was the first song Graeme Downes ever wrote, in 1980, inspired by the suicide of a friend. All songs written by Graeme Downes. Makes No Difference".
One thing for sure though, guitarist Colin McCann steadily drops some hammers on the Wilderness records, and now he has a solo project under the name The Lord Dog Bird coming out on Jagjaguwar later this summer, which, if we had to judge by this first song (we don't because we heard the whole album already!), is going to be. pretty great.
