Stream re:works Piano by Various artists and tens of millions.

This album is the second in the ‘Re:works’ series, following last year’s ground-breaking project where the Decca classics catalogue was opened up to leading electronic DJs in.

Since 1998 it has been awarded as Best Spoken Word Album. The category now also includes audio books, poetry readings and story telling. Three US Presidents have won the award: Jimmy Carter (who has won the award three times), Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, along with spoken recordings of John F. Kennedy and Franklin D. Roosevelt. America Again: Re-becoming The Greatness We Never Weren't. Various artists including Rob Lowe, Noah Wyle, Joan Allen & Tom Brokaw and narrator Harry Smithfor War Letters: Extraordinary Correspondence from American Wars.

Re:Works Various Artists. The first 4 or so tracks give the impression that this will be an intelligent album of classical re-works. Sadly it just turns into another 4 on the floor dance bore of an album with very little imagination. See All. Mouth to Mouth - EP. Audion. Solitary Daze - EP. Maceo Plex & Gabriel Ananda.

This is probably the worst thing ever pressed on CD in 2016. Why would need anyone another space disco version of the Moonlight Sonata, or a Triphop Version of Saties Gnossienne No. 1? I don't think that classical music shouldn't be remixed and reworked (as the Grammophon Recomposed Series cleverly proved that this is useful and possible). But this is a backlash to 1992 where almost everything (from film music to popular schlager) was remixed in a techno/house version. An utter waste of talent if you look at the names...

The cuts went over incredibly well in my DJ sets and on my university's radio shows. People loved them. If that's how we get them into classical music, so be it. The 20th century's Chicago House and Detroit Techno is tomorrow's classical music. It is already being remixed.

I enjoyed it. Keep up the part time critic job!
