Profile: American country music artist, born 7 October 1949 in Queens, New York, USA.
Kieran Kane (born October 7, 1949 in Queens, New York) is an American country music artist, as well as the owner of Dead Reckoning Records, an independent record label. Between 1986 and 1990, he and Jamie O'Hara comprised The O'Kanes, a duo which charted seven singles on the . Billboard Hot Country Singles charts, including the Number One single "Can't Stop My Heart from Loving You". In addition, Kieran charted a string of solo singles on Asylum Records in 1982.
Kieran Kane is one of the new outlaw country types surfacing in Nashville these days. Only the "outlaw" aspect doesn't apply to the lifestyle as in the old days. Here, it applies to the music, which bypasses the major labels and trends in favor of independently operated labels and a sense of following one's heart in making music. Kane's own "This Dirty Little Town" has a nice, ragged quality to it, and his cover of Hank Williams' "Ramblin Man" comes off high lonesome
In 1990 the album Kevin Welch was recorded and 2 years later Western Beat. The former produced four charting singles on Hot Country Songs, including "Til I See You Again," which reached No. 3. .In 1994 he co-founded Dead Reckoning Records along with Kieran Kane, Tammy Rogers, Mike Henderson and Harry Stinson. The following year Life Down Here on Earth was published and in 1999 Beneath My Wheels. The majority of songs are Welch's originals.

Kieran Kane & Rayna Gellert. We sing songs and play instruments r good reason. His seminal work in The O'Kanes and Kane Welch Kaplin, as well as co-founding the independent label Dead Reckoning Records, laid the foundation for the contemporary world of Americana music. A successful solo artist, collaborator, and songwriter (with songs recorded by Alan Jackson, John Prine, Emmylou Harris, and many more), Kieran is a musician's musician: his playing is always understated, always groove-oriented, and always serving the song.
I have followed Kieran Kane since his O'kane days and through his solo records. All deserve your attention, but the music that Kane, Welch, and Kaplin have created in their three recordings is special. Kane Welch Kaplin is on the Dead Reckoning Records and Compass Records label. The album was recorded at The Blue Room in Nashville, Tennessee and was produced by Kane Welch Kaplin.
