Read Music/Speak Spanish is the first studio album by American punk band Desaparecidos. Released in February 2002, the record is the forty-second release of Saddle Creek Records. Read Music/Speak Spanish is a punk/indie-rock concept album loosely centered on perceived American materialism and greed

The Album kicks of which the line, into corduroys or jeans, chinos or capris sweater vest no sleeves, oxford underneath or whatever you think I mean whatever is gonna make you want me. Anyone who knows their Bright Eyes knows that the lyrics are almost unmatched, even if he at times go over the top trying to emulate Dylan. Read Music/Speak Spanish it short at just over half an hour but is well worth every penny. There is almost something for everyone here. The guitar effects remind me of Worship and Tribute by Glassjaw, the song writing is classic Bright Eyes and the overall sound is really its own.

Read Music/Speak Spanish. Read Music/Speak Spanish. Like their labelmates Cursive, Desaparecidos are an Omaha act with a taste for shaking up indie rock with volatile mood swings and jagged guitar rhythms. But while Cursive's songs are often deeply-sometimes painfully-personal, Desaparecidos strike out at modern complacency more than they vent personal vendettas. Sample this album Artist (Sample).

Why would Pitchfork assign an album to someone who isn't going to like it? Perhaps if Rob Mitchum had given the album a fair shot, he wouldn't be so quick to write off the inter-song sound clip segues as "devices so unoriginal, they're older than Oberst himself. As if making fun of Oberst's age hasn't been done to death, asshole. Pretty much the whole misguided appraisal of Read Music - Speak Spanish stems from your conclusion that "Oberst shows occasional, genuine skill as a talented songwriter, but he's constantly tripped up by taking himself way, way, way too seriously. Heh, I'm sure Pitchfork writers never, ever take themselves too seriously, do they?

Second Spanish Album was an LP album featuring The Sandpipers released in 1970 in the United Kingdom (A&M AMLS 969) and Germany (A&M 2320 008), and in 1973 in Australia (World Record Club S-5395, different cover). Except for "Born Free", the tracks were all songs that had previously been released on the earlier Sandpipers albums Softly and The Wonder of You. However, some of the tracks are shortened and others extended. Most of the Spanish vocals were redone for this album. Read Music/Speak Spanish is a punk, indie-rock concept album loosely centered on perceived American materialism and greed. The album was recorded in one week, the same week of the September 11 attacks. Since the concept of the album is a criticism of American consumerism, the band considered not releasing it and partly due to this timing the album failed commercially. Despite its lack of commercial success, the album gained an extensive cult following.
