Seven Top Ten pop hits are featured, among them the chart-toppers "Doo Wop (That Thing)," by Lauryn Hill (a bit long in the tooth, dating back to August 1998) and "Say My Name," by Destiny's Child. In reality, there's nothing tying these tracks together but the big record label they come from, and yet the album hangs together, which is an accomplishment.
Saturno is one of the country's most prolific and respected songwriters. The album is entirely instrumental, and Saturno plays piano and keyboards. The songs on My Platinum Album are pleasant easy-listening numbers and are presented here in an enjoyable manner. Surely, though, the songs on My Platinum Album have provided the blueprint for other Saturno compositions that are derivative. Opening the album is the mellow "Bakit Pa" (Why Is It), a big hit for female singer Jessa Zaragoza. The melodies are performed here in a note-for-note manner per the original versions, though the arrangements are different.
The first album is always a terrific summation of great singles, while the second albums are filled with second tier ones. Totally Hits 2002: More Platinum Hits" does not come anywhere near the claim of it's title. Despite a few good tracks, most of the songs seen like filler. 1) P!NK "Don't Let Me Get Me" A-. It lacks the stormin' beat of "Get The Party Started", but makes up for it with alot of attitude and a real message. The title promises an interesting song, but the song is everything we've heard before. Is it any wonder this song NEVER became a hit? (8) Nappy Roots "Awnaw" D. The Nappy Roots take southern rap to an almost redeneck extent, and the result is just not very likeable. This track is standard material with a awful beat and tone to it that appeals to just about no one. Their "shotgun marrige" of country and rap does not work.
