The Morriston Orpheus Choir, based in Morriston, near Swansea, Wales, is a male voice choir, one of the best-known in the UK. The Choir was formed on April 23, 1935, by Ivor E. Sims and in its early days concentrated primarily on competitions and local concerts. In 1937, the Choir achieved its first success at the Royal National Eisteddfod in Machynlleth, going on to win at the "National" on six further occasions.

The Glasgow Orpheus Choir was founded in 1906, evolving out of an earlier group with the less mellifluous name of Toynbee House Musical Association; it lasted until 1951. A negative for this Regis release is that it includes no indication of where or when the recordings were made; it must have been late in the choir's career, for the sound quality, surely due in part to the efforts of producer Tony Watts, is remarkably good.
