Marcus Garvey is the third album by the reggae group Burning Spear, released in 1975 on Island Records, ILPS 9377. The album is named after the Jamaican National Hero and Rastafari movement prophet Marcus Garvey. A dub version of it was released four months later as Garvey's Ghost

In her new album, Marcia Griffiths is reviving a golden age in Jamaica’s music history. Studio One was home to many artists including Bob Marley and the Wailers, Burning Spear, Lee Scratch Perry, the Skatalites and Griffiths herself. Studio One, that is where all the greats, legends, everyone came out of. It was music with substance and longevity and I figured these songs are so timeless and beautiful I would love to do my version of these songs, she told Loop in an interview via phone.

Griffiths has covered dancehall, doo wop, rocksteady, and a variety of other subgenres of reggae over the years, and part of her versatile nature has always been how open she's been to collaboration and working with guests. Marcia Griffiths and Friends is an almost overwhelming testament to that fact, with 38 duets culled from her enormous discography and featuring a who's who of Jamaican music. Highlights are plentiful, and the songs are all over the spectrum.

Marcia Griffiths and Leroy Sibbles co-headline Le Manoir on May 18. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve seen reggae queen Marcia Griffiths perform live over the past 25 years, in Jamaica and abroad. Griffiths, the woman whom Bob Marley loved like a sister, has been working in the showbiz trenches for 50 years. Now 63, she was signed to reggae legend Coxsone Dodd’s Studio One label when she was just 14, after being spotted performing onstage with Byron Lee and the Dragonaires. Griffiths is currently cross-promoting her latest album Marcia Griffiths & Friends on the Reggae Extravaganza tour, which pitstops in Monteal on May 18 with another reggae legend, the great Leroy Sibbles, onetime lead singer with the legendary Heptones.
