Description

Kings of the Wild Frontier is the second album by English new wave band Adam and the Ants. It was released in November 1980 by CBS Records International. This album introduced the "Burundi beat" sound to popular music. After having his previous backing band wooed away by producer Malcolm McLaren to form Bow Wow Wow, Adam Ant recorded Kings of the Wild Frontier with guitarist Marco Pirroni as his new writing partner.

A new royal family, a wild nobility We are the family (Yeah) A new royal family, a wild nobility We are the family. No method in our madness (Yeah) Just pride about our manner (Yeah) Antpeople are the warriors (Yeah) Antmusic is the banner (Yeah). And even when you're healthy And your colour schemes delight Down below those dandy clothes You're just a shade too white. Shade too white Shade too white Shade too white. I feel beneath the white There is a redskin suffering From centuries of taming I feel beneath the white There is a redskin suffering From centuries of taming

Adam and the rest of the Ants had just worked up how to exploit the Burundi style when McLaren pirated the boys off to support Annabella Lwin in Bow Wow Wow - using the very same sound they had developed with Adam Ant. It was now a race to get that sound into the stores first, and Adam lucked out when he joined forces with guitarist Marco Pirroni, who quickly proved to be invaluable. If image was all that they had, they would've remained a fad, but Kings of the Wild Frontier remains a terrific album because it not only has some tremendous songs - the title track and "Antmusic" are classic hits, while "Killer in the Home" and "Physical (You're So)" are every bit their equal - but because it. fearlessly, imperceptibly switches gears between giddy and ominous, providing nothing short of a thrill ride in its 13 songs. That's why it still sounds like nothing else years after its release.

Kings of the Wild Frontier is the second album by English new wave band Adam and the Ants  . The US version of the album dropped "Making History" in favour of two tracks penned by Ant prior to teaming up with Marco Pirroni, "(You're So) Physical" and "Press Darlings". The album was remastered and reissued in 2004 with several bonus tracks.

Adam's ever-changing line-up of Ants included, on this song, Pirroni on guitar, Kevin Mooney on bass guitar and, on drums, both Chris Hughes (under the pseudonym "Merrick") and Terry Lee Miall. It was included on the album of the same name released 3 November 1980. The B-side, "Press Darlings," was not. When the album was released in the US, the track "Making History" was dropped in favour of "Press Darlings" and "Physical (You're So. Kings of the Wild Frontier". Single by Adam and the Ants

This album came out before Adam and The Ants had success in the US. The shame is that for many that were exposed to Adam and The Ants because of later releases that were not as good, they never listened to Kings of the Wild Frontier. Big mistake! If you are even a marginal Adam fan stop now and get this truly great CD.
