Sweet Soul Music CD-Album-Series with Soul Music re-released on CDs by Bear Family This CD-Album-Serie is the sequel to our R & B smash Blowing The Fuse. It starts where the Fuse left off and continues well into the 70s. All the great Soul stuff is here and all the great names.
Sweet Soul Music shows how good it can be when the various labels (Atlantic/Stax/Chess etc) license their music to people who truly care about the music. There are cheaper ways to obtain these songs, I doubt there are better ways. There's no less that 4 full colour plates of Kim Weston from the same photo session at the end of the booklet - lovely stuff. Noted writer and soul lover BILL DAHL handles the liner notes with knowledgeable contributions from Colin Escott, Rudigar Ladwig & Bill Millar. And because the booklet allows Dahl to spread out on each song, the details come thick and fast - it's a fabulously entertaining and informative read.
The album catapulted THE CULT into superstar status and remains their most commercially successful release. It has sold over . million copies in the . alone and was certified platinum in 1990.
