Bitches Brew is a studio double album by American jazz musician, composer, and bandleader Miles Davis, released on March 30, 1970 on Columbia Records. It marked his continuing experimentation with electric instruments that he had previously featured on the critically acclaimed In a Silent Way (1969). With these instruments, such as the electric piano and guitar, Davis rejected traditional jazz rhythms in favor of loose, rock-influenced arrangements based on improvisation.

Bitches Brew is a studio album by American jazz musician, trumpeter, bandleader, and composer Miles Davis. The album continues with the use of electric instruments which he had adopted on his previous few albums, including In a Silent Way. Bitches Brew dives deep into experimental, psychedelic, and abrasive jazz fusion, combined with elements of avant-garde jazz and avant-funk. Of the six tracks featured on the original release, three are over fifteen minutes long. Davis was previously known for his cool jazz sound, something which Bitches Brew throws away completely

Thought by many to be among the most revolutionary albums in jazz history, Miles Davis' Bitches Brew solidified the genre known as jazz-rock fusion. The original double LP included only six cuts and featured up to 12 musicians at any given time, some of whom were already established while others would become high-profile players later, Joe Zawinul, Wayne Shorter, Airto, John McLaughlin, Chick Corea, Jack DeJohnette, Dave Holland, Don Alias, Bennie Maupin, Larry Young, and Lenny White among them.

Miles Davis made it his own, creating pieces over 20 minutes long that were built on a few fragments he offered to the musicians in his new quintet. Joining this group were several invited artists whose role was to enlarge the rhythm section and to help rein in the members of the ensemble who were known to venture toward the edge of chaos during their concerts

Miles Davis took a turn away from hard bop with Bitches Brew, and its mysterious fusion vibes still reverberate throughout jazz music. Psychedelic guitar lines cavort with funky percussion on Pharaoh’s Dance, while the title track manifests the album’s surreal atmospheres with stark trumpet blasts, bobbing bass, and wild bursts of percussion. And despite its abrasiveness, a chilled-out character emerges on opus Miles Runs the Voodoo Down. Arguably Davis’ most intense work, this masterpiece firmly cements his name in the jazz-rock pantheon. Bitches Brew Miles Davis.
