02 Roger McGuinn Thunderbyrd American Girl.
American Girl Lyrics. Well, she was an American girl Raised on promises She couldn't help thinking That there was a little more to life Somewhere else After all it was a great big world With lots of places to run to And if she had to die Tryin', she had one little promise She was gonna keep Oh yeah, alright Take it easy, baby Make it last all night She was an American girl.
Roger McGuinn is the first full-length solo album by Roger McGuinn, released in 1973. This album was released after The Byrds' 1973 reunion album, on which all five founding members of the group participated in the sessions. McGuinn himself has stated that any outtakes left over from those sessions appeared here, but this was later proven to be false with the discovery of several alternate takes and at least one outtake in late 2009.
The first album in the set, "Roger McGuinn," made a very strong statement. The material was outstanding, blending folk and rock jazz, and country themes. Guest performers included former Byrds Gene Clark, David Crosby and Chris Hillman, along with Bruce Johnston, Spanky McFarlane and many others. Peace on You" was album number two, and again featured a very strong song mix. Entry number three was "Roger McGuinn and Band," featuring Roger fronting a very strong and tight rock and roll band, but it was a little thin on new material . Of particular note is Roger's rocking version of a song called "American Girl. The song was written by a then relatively unknown musician by the name of Tom Petty. If you are looking for some consistently strong music to enjoy on your next road trip, look no further.

Touring behind their 2017 album, Heartworms, James Mercer and company realized their jaunty Wincing the Night Away opener Sleeping Lessons segues into the opening guitar lines of American Girl quite impeccably. Sugarland’s Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush let the acoustic guitars flow for for this stripped-down American Girl live session. In the ‘60s, the Byrds made a career out of melding folk’s wokeness-inclined, storytelling strumming with those electric guitars the kids couldn’t get enough of. The following decade, deeply Byrdsian groups found tough sledding on the charts, but Tom Petty had his Rickenbacker helped keep the jangle alive - so well, that as legend has it, Byrds frontman Roger McGuinn quipped about swearing he wrote American Girl himself.
