Sir Elton Hercules John has released more than 30 studio albums over the course of his career. By conservative estimation, at least 10 of those are stone-cold classics, 10 more are solid ground-rule doubles with hit singles and a few quality deep cuts. cocaine is a hell of a drug. Yet even on the worst of those, one can find gems,as you'll see on our list of the Best Song From Every Elton John Album below. You can neatly divide John’s output into a few distinct periods. From 1970 to 1975, he was untouchable on the charts and nearly unimpeachable as an artistic force.
Elton John has always fancied himself a big-theme album artist, but because even his finest albums are spotty, his best moments, with few exceptions, have been singles. Many years ago I used to think Goodbye Yellow Brick Road and Honky Chateau were Elton's best albums. All the songs are very good!
On August 25, 1970, Elton John made his . debut at West Hollywood's Troubadour, an event declared to be among the 20 most important concerts in the history of rock 'n' roll. On August 25, 1970, Elton John made his . debut in a legendary six-night sold-out run at West Hollywood’s Troubadour. John’s eponymous first album-which was released in the states on July 22-had landed on the Troubadour owner Doug Weston’s desk with a request for the undiscovered pianist to play a date as his club. Elton came out on stage, sat down at the piano and with no banter launched into Your Song solo at the piano, with Dee coming in on bass midway through. Next was Bad Side of the Moon with Nigel kicking it off with a drum intro, and the crowd was officially sold.
Elton’s second album in the UK was released on April 10, 1970 and then later, on July 22, became his first US release. The album was the first of many to be produced by Gus Dudgeon and as well as being certified gold by the RIAA, was nominated for a Grammy Award for Album of the Year. It included one of Elton’s biggest hits, Your Song, and has since been inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.
Picking Elton John's single greatest album is no easy task. The man worked like a maniac in the early 1970s, releasing 10 albums between 1970 and 1976. Those were his golden years, but he kept going and managed more than a few true creative comebacks in the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s. It's a huge, powerful sound and their debut at the Troubadour on August 25th, 1970 created shockwaves all through Los Angeles. It's easy to understand why when you hear this radio broadcast (released in 1971) from a New York station. The album takes the listener on a journey to late-1960s England, when a struggling piano player met an equally struggling songwriter. It hit shelves just three years after "Your Song" hit radio, but this was still the apex of Elton-mania. He's been a superstar for nearly 45 years, but this was the peak. Want more Rolling Stone?
My favourite Elton John song of all time. Timeless and absolutely legendary. No wonder the Lakers used it for so many years. Elton's greatest song ever and a wonderful tribute to John Lennon. If you haven't heard do it now! Definitely a top five song in my opinion. He puts so much emotion behind it. A beautiful song for John Lennon. Subtle yet poignant; just perfect.
